No political party has undertaken the awesome responsibility of unifying our country.
Instead, our political leaders, political parties, and even the media have chosen to pursue their own paths and ignore our nation’s dire need for unity.
To be clear, I am not seeking the extreme-right white supremacists or the Antifa protesters from Charlottesville to serve as these unifying figures.
Instead, this responsibility must be undertaken by the leaders that we have elected to serve us, and by the media industry whose job it is to engage the public through enlightened discourse.
I strongly agree that President Trump’s statements setback this cause by attempting to draw moral equivalence between the protesters from both sides.
To be sure, I strongly condemn those white supremacists whose violence and intimidation in Charlottesville led to the deaths of three Americans.

If the events in Charlottesville, Virginia have revealed anything to me, it is that we are lacking any real efforts to unify our country.
